Sigma Switches Founder Daniel Rothbauer Dies at 77

Daniel A. Rothbauer, 77, of South Bend, Ind., passed away Tuesday, July 24, at Memorial Hospital.

Rothbauer was born March 17, 1941, in Evanston, Ill., to Louis and Katherine Rothbauer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Gloria Rothbauer and a brother, James.

On Jan. 11, 2005, he married Lori Epson.

Surviving are his wife, Lori, four children, eight grandchildren, sisters Mary Moore, Patricia Fittshur and Louise Whipp; and brother, John Rothbauer.

Rothbauer started Sigma Switches in Elkhart in 1983 and served as the CEO before retiring in 2016.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 29, with a rosary at 2:30 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, at St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, with military honors by VFW Post 360/American Legion 161 burial team.

Hahn Funeral Home Mishawaka has been entrusted with handling the final arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
