Solar Toy Haulers Certified Emerald

Coachmen’s Adrenaline and Forest River’s Work and Play Toy Haulers have been Certified Green for several years, but now they have upgraded their certification to Emerald / Off-Grid for their solar toy haulers.

Along with this exciting upgrade for the solar models, the standard units have also been upgraded to the Emerald level of green certification.

In the category of Resource Efficiency, the Adrenaline & Work and Play facility recycles or reuses 75 percent of manufacturing waste. They utilize multiple jig systems to reduce waste and maximize material usage. They also use multiple components that are shipped on reusable containers. Several materials are cut to size by the supplier and the units incorporate materials with recycled content. Also, the RVs include nitrogen-filled tires which improve fuel economy.

The certification upgrade came in the category of Energy Efficiency. The standard Adrenaline and Work and Play units are pre-wired for solar panels, making it easy to go off-grid.  The Solar units take it a step further and are equipped with four 265W Jaboni solar panels. This provides up to 100 amps of DC current. The solar package also includes a hybrid inverter that allows the unit to utilize energy from either incoming AC power or from the batteries, allowing the inverter to recharge the batteries when there is a surplus of power. The Adrenaline & Work and Play also utilize a convection microwave, LED lighting throughout and units are tested in a rain booth to ensure a durable product.

The toy haulers are also Water Efficient by containing low-flow kitchen faucets, showerhead and toilet.  The amount of water saved from these low flow fixtures greatly impacts water conservation. Plus, the water used for rain booth testing is also recycled.

The toy haulers include very little carpeting which makes for easy clean-up and healthier Indoor Air Quality. Ductwork is located above the floor so dirt, dust and other contaminants aren’t being re-introduced into the air. The use of Azdel walls in the cargo area improve indoor air quality now and in the future by being resistant to moisture. Low-VOC flooring and formaldehyde-free insulation are also beneficial to the indoor environment.
