SuperSteer, a leading provider of suspension and steering upgrades for RVs, has announced a new line of premium shock absorbers engineered specifically for MORryde Independent Suspension systems on fifth wheels and trailers.
Developed in collaboration with KONI, the new SuperSteer SS80-2928 and upcoming SS80-2929 build upon the ride and handling advantages of MORryde Independent Suspension by providing increased damping control, premium shock construction and improved long-term performance.

We saw an opportunity to take analready excellent suspension system and provide owners with an even higher level of shock control.”
SS80-2928: Available for Earlier MORryde Independent Suspension
The SuperSteer SS80-2928 is designed for earlier MORryde Independent Suspension systems utilizing stem-style shock mounts at both the top and bottom. The shock replaces the Monroe 555001 application and includes new installation hardware.
Unlike the standard replacement shock, the SS80-2928 is manually adjustable, allowing owners and installers to tailor rebound damping to the needs of the fifth wheel.
Depending on adjustment, the SS80-2928 can provide approximately 50% to 100% more rebound control than the standard Monroe shock. The additional damping is particularly beneficial for heavier fifth wheels, toy haulers, rear-kitchen floorplans and trailers carrying significant weight toward the rear.
Increased rebound control helps the suspension settle more quickly following movement, reducing the continued bouncing or “porpoising” that can occur with heavily loaded fifth wheels.
At the same time, the shock maintains relatively soft compression characteristics. This allows owners to gain additional suspension control without unnecessarily sacrificing the smoother ride that makes MORryde Independent Suspension attractive in the first place.
Premium KONI Performance With Lifetime Coverage
SuperSteer developed the new shocks with KONI to provide more consistent damping performance throughout the life of the shock and across changing road and travel conditions. The new SuperSteer MORryde shocks are also backed by a lifetime shock warranty through SuperSteer for as long as the owner owns the fifth wheel with the shocks installed.
For RV owners who have experienced repeated shock replacement or simply want a premium alternative to the standard shock, the new SuperSteer products provide another option without replacing or altering the fundamental benefits of the MORryde Independent Suspension system.
SS80-2929 Coming for MORryde IS 2.0
SuperSteer is also preparing to introduce the SS80-2929, designed specifically for the newer MORryde IS 2.0 suspension. MORryde IS 2.0 utilizes loop-style shock mounts rather than the stem-style mounts found on earlier MORryde IS systems. The SS80-2929 corresponds to the Monroe 555002 application.
Unlike the adjustable SS80-2928, the SS80-2929 will be non-adjustable and pre-set with dampingcharacteristics developed for the IS 2.0 application.
The SS80-2929 is being engineered to provide approximately 50% or more additional control in the low-speed damping range, helping reduce bounce and porpoising while maintaining ride quality.
The first production shipment of the SS80-2929 is expected during winter 2026–2027.
The new SuperSteer shocks may also provide an upgrade path for certain fifth wheels equipped from thefactory with MORryde Independent Suspension but without shock absorbers.
Adding a properly engineered shock introduces damping control to the suspension, complementing theimproved ride characteristics already provided by the independent suspension system.
“Our goal isn’t to change what makes MORryde Independent Suspension work so well,” the SuperSteerteam said. “It’s to build on it. We want to give fifth-wheel owners more control over bounce and porpoisingwhile preserving the smoother ride they invested in when they chose independent suspension.”

The SuperSteer SS80-2928 is available now for earlier MORryde Independent Suspension systems using stem-style upper and lower shock mounts.
The SuperSteer SS80-2929 for MORryde IS 2.0 systems with loop-style shock mounts is expected to become available during winter 2026–2027.
