TACO’s Annual Spring Meeting Kicks Off Tomorrow
The Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) plans to hold its annual Spring Meeting Tuesday through Thursday at the Lake Conroe/Houston North KOA Holiday campground in Montgomery, Texas.
“We’re expecting a huge group, with over 200 pre-registered,” said Brian Schaeffer, TACO’s executive director and CEO. The three-day event will kick off with a legislative update on Tuesday afternoon with discussion topics including: school start dates, property tax relief, utility billings, and park licensing requirements.
TACO’s annual awards ceremony will take place after the legislative update, which will be followed by a happy hour featuring pizza and beer with tradeshow vendors.
Wednesday’s activities will include a keynote address by Janine Stange, who has sung the National Anthem in all 50 states while dealing with personal crisis and establishing a special connection with Medal of Honor winners. Her personal story will have attendees laughing and crying as she encourages them to “Be Uncommon.”
Following the keynote for most of the day is TACO’s annual trade show with some 50 vendors including several park models on display.
There will be an educational session following the tradeshow focusing on legal issues involving potential landlord-tenant issues and park operator-guest relationships. The evening will include a “TACO Unity Dinner” and the association’s annual auction, which raises money for TACO’s legislative affairs program.
Thursday will feature educational sessions on front office reservation systems; park advertising; the latest developments involving propane regulations; and finding which market segments – daily, weekly or monthly – are the right fit for your business plan. There will also be a session on customer service with a focus on the pros and cons of automation versus personalization.
