Texas-based Fun Town RV will soon open a new location in Waco, Texas, its fourth dealership in the state, according to general manager Jarrod McGhee. The dealership also has two locations in Cleburne and one in San Angelo.
“Our official opening date is Feb. 1, but we should have our doors open before then,” McGhee told RV PRO.
Fun Town RV’s new facility will span about 7 acres, and include a parts and accessories store, and six-bay service center, according to McGhee. The dealership plans to stock its Waco inventory with 150 new units by Forest River and Thor, and 50 used units. It will also rent RVs.
“We feel Waco is a very strong market. They definitely have the population down there,” he said. “There are several dealers close to the Austin area, but there’s no one dealer probably within 60 miles from where we’re opening up.”
The dealership’s Waco location will initially employee 15-20 workers. McGhee said he will serve as co-general manager with Bill Brown. Mike Hartley will serve as sales manager.
“We’re hoping to grow pretty quickly from there. When we opened our store in Cleburne, we had about 20 employees the day we opened and we’re up to 65 now,” he said.
In August 2010, the dealership added a second location in Cleburne and quickly found a recipe for success, which it will attempt to replicate in Waco.
“That dealership became the No. 1 dealer in the state within about three months. We’re the No. 1-selling dealership in Texas according to Stat Surveys for new towables,” McGhee said. “We just see plenty of potential for gaining in the (Waco) market down there. We think in no time at all that store will compete with Cleburne for the top dealership in Texas.”
Only a few more preparations must be made to the Waco location before it opens to the public for its grand opening celebration in February.
“We’re trying to get everything freshened up – doing some cleaning, and painting. It’ll look great,” McGhee said.
