Torklift Central ‘Turkey Challenge’ Raises $3K & Counting
As the 2024 Kent Turkey Challenge passes the two-week mark, community members continue to show their generosity and dedication to supporting local families in need this holiday season.
This year’s challenge, organized by Torklift Central and Kent United Methodist Church, has already raised nearly $3,000 in monetary donations and nearly 200 pounds of food, with contributions rolling in from businesses and individuals in the community.
One standout donation came from a Kent resident who was inspired by the outdoor sign advertising the challenge at Torklift Central. The local customer generously donated $2,000 to help families this Thanksgiving, marking one of the largest individual contributions to the campaign so far.
The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared her motivation behind the generous gift: “I know what it is like to be hungry and not know where my next meal would be. It is great to be able to give back to this community that I call home.” Her donation will help feed numerous families in need during the holiday season.
As the Turkey Challenge continues, Torklift Central encourages more local businesses and community members to get involved. Donations of any size make a significant impact, and all funds raised go directly to helping those in need through the Kent Food Bank and other local support organizations.
“There are still a few weeks left to contribute before the challenge ends on Nov. 3. Together, we can ensure that no family in Kent goes without a meal this Thanksgiving,” the companies said.
