Travel Lite President Dustin Johns is taking a leave of absence from the company, he confirmed to RV PRO this week.
Johns and the board of investors (made up of a half-dozen industry veterans) decided this last weekend as the company undergoes some restructuring.
Travel Lite was founded in 1968 and specializes in the manufacturing of truck campers and lightweight travel trailers.
Johns took over as the CEO of the family-owned company from his father in January 2015. Since that time, the New Paris, Ind.-based company has greatly expanded, with the $5 million-plus addition of a new 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, a 5,000-square-foot headquarters and a 12,000-square-foot custom fiberglass shop. The company also has greatly expanded its travel trailer offerings in recent years.
In March, the company was awarded “New Business of the Year” from the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce. Since Johns took over as CEO of the company in January 2015, its staff has grown from 37 to more than 150 this February.
Travel Lite looks forward to bringing its 2020 units, including the Evoke, which has won several awards, for dealers to see at the Elkhart Open House next month.
