President Donald J. Trump took center stage two days after Indiana’s primary and electrified thousands of supporters here inside a raucous North Side Gym, according to the South Bend Tribune.
It was a straightforward strategy to re-invigorate the Republican base with November’s general election midterms looming and to paint a grand portrait of his presidency.
After being introduced by Vice President and former Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Trump touted his first 16 months in office, took sweeping hacks at Democrats and taunted the “fake news” media covering the event.
“We are all making America proud,” Trump declared to start his address. “We are rocking. We are rocking.”
Trump wasted little time throwing his support to Indiana Republicans vying for seats on Capitol Hill, including incumbent District 2 U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski and U.S. Senate candidate Mike Braun, fresh off his primary victory over U.S. Reps. Luke Messer and Mike Rokita.
