Turtleback Trailers Acquired, Expects Increased Production for 2021

Arizona-based company American Coatings Holdings, which owns brands like Inyati Bedliners and SmartWrap, has acquired Turtleback Trailers. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“This is the American dream,” said Dave Munsterman, founder of Turtleback. “To build something from scratch and be able to pass it on to the next generation – it’s incredible. Now I will get to fulfill my dreams of spending more time outdoors with our longtime customers and fans. You’ll get to see me camping out with them more regularly in Northern Arizona as I continue to raise my family and advise the continued growth of Turtleback Trailers.”

“We’ve been a longtime local supplier, partner and friend of Turtleback Trailers, so this felt like a natural next step for growing the brand,” said Malcolm Hilcove, who will serve as Turtleback Trailers’ new CEO.

Hilcove’s team will start overseeing daily operations at Turtleback’s Phoenix warehouse and showroom starting as early as mid-May, with Turtleback Trailers founder, Dave Munsterman, staying on in an advisory role throughout the summer.

New ownership plans to increase production substantially by increasing the number of trailers shipped nationwide by 2021.

“One of the things people are most passionate about when it comes to their Turtleback Trailers is the degree of care and attention that goes into every model produced,” said Hilcove. “While growth is a priority, we prioritize crafting an industry-leading product above all else, so our goal is to do both in a responsible, sustainable manner.”

Top-selling Turtleback models currently include the Expedition and the Getaway trailer.
