WATT Announces First RV Test for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell System
WATT Fuel Cell Corp. announced this week that it is working with the innovation team from Erwin Hymer Group North America (EHGNA) to test the Imperium Hybrid Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) power management system on an RV.
The first Imperium system was installed in an EHGNA E-Trek autonomous vehicle, which was showcased at the National RV Trade Show last week.
Imperium creates power from readily-available and easily-accessible fuels and renewable energy sources. The Imperium SOFC system installed on the EHGNA RV utilizes the hybrid power manager to optimize fuel cell and solar capabilities, while maximizing energy storage. It creates power efficiently and quietly from propane and solar energy, providing clean power on demand, with no engine noise or harmful exhaust.
Imperium will allow RV enthusiasts to automatically create, access and manage power for all its on-board appliances and devices.
“Working with companies like EHGNA will validate WATT’s SOFC technology and help us demonstrate the products that will set new standards for cost and performance in the fuel cell industry,” said Caine Finnerty, president and CEO of WATT Fuel Cell. “We are excited to be working with EHGNA, a leading innovator in their own right.”
“It’s important for us to research and test new technologies in our RVs to see all of the options we can make available in our models,” said Joel Adams, director of engineering for EHGNA. “This is why it makes sense for us to be the first in our industry to work with WATT’s state-of-the-art product.”
