Wholesale RV Values Are Mixed as Summer Arrives
Despite economic turmoil, wholesale RV prices are remaining generally steady, although as inventory levels stabilize prices are dropping a bit, said Eric Lawrence at Black Book, in his most recent monthly report.
“The economic reports and the stock market’s performance have not been very good during the past month, but the dealers we have spoken to report that floor traffic is only down a little,” Lawrence said. “Many have also said that they are finally approaching a comfortable level of inventory, especially on towables, and although some national chains are beginning to discount, it has not reached typical pre-pandemic levels.
“Taking a closer look at the markets, we see that the average selling price for motorized units was $73,350 which is down $3,068 (4%) from the previous month. Towables came in at $20,883, up $522 (2.5%) from last month. One year ago, the average motorhome sold for $64,474 and the average towable unit brought $22,214.
Auction volume was up: motorhomes increased 17.8%, while towables rose 14.1%.”
He added that the average age of motorhomes was 13 years old (2009) and towables was six (2016).
