Wholesale RV Values Drop Again as Fall Arrives

Black Book released its monthly commentary for November.

“The values for used RVs sold at wholesale auctions declined last month. If you exclude the months where the motorhome averages were elevated due to an unusually high number of Class As, their values have been very stable for the better part of a year. Towable values dropped for the third consecutive month, which is not surprising as seasonal patterns begin to emerge as we head into colder weather,” said Eric Lawrence, principal analyst – specialty markets at Black Book.

Taking a closer look at the markets, we see that the average selling price for motorhomes was $63,678, which is down $6,563 (9.3%) from the previous month. Towables came in at $16,376, down $916 (5.3%) from last month. One year ago the average motorhome sold for $65,973 and the average towable brought $18,736.

Auction volume was mixed: motorhomes decreased 9.1% while towables rose by 1.4%.

The average age of motorhomes was nine years old (2016) and towables was five (2020).
