Wholesale RV Values Increase as Warmer Weather Arrives

Black Book released its monthly commentary for May.

“Spring has finally arrived, and with it came the expected uptick in values for Motorhomes and Towables sold at auction.  Most dealers who do business in areas with cold winters begin to stock up on inventory just prior to the arrival of warmer weather when eager buyers will start to flood into their showrooms and off-site shows to purchase a new, or used but new to them, RV for the upcoming year.”

Taking a closer look at the markets, we see that the average selling price for Motorhomes was $63,540, which is up $8,689 (15.8%) from the previous month.  Towables came in at $18,770, up $1,110 (6.2%) from last month.  One year ago the average motorhome sold for $55,950 and the average towable brought $19,000.

Auction volume was mixed: motorhomes increased 2.4% while towables declined 9.6%.

The average age of motorhomes was eight years old (2017) and towables was five (2020).
