Winnebago Industries begins a partnership today with bicycle manufacturer Schwinn for a promotion that includes a give-away of a Schwinn Trailway bicycle once a week for the next 10 weeks.
The promotion also includes 10 Schwinn bicycles that will be on-hand at Winnebago’s Forest City, Iowa, facilities for Winnebago visitors to use.
“There’s a definite connection between bicycling, the outdoors and RVing, so it was just a good fit for us,” Winnebago Public Relations Specialist Sam Jefson said.
The RV manufacturer hopes to boost interest in its social media outlets and offer some entertainment and exercise throughout the promotion. Winners of the drawing will be announced on the Winnebago Facebook page weekly.
Participants over 18 years old can register for the “Get out and Go” promotion starting today, and Winnebago will announce the first winner Friday (Sept. 4), according to Jefson.
As part of the promotion, Schwinn will provide 10 Trailway bicycles at the Winnebago Visitors Center for owners to ride while their coach is in service or while they are visiting.
“We have a pretty good trail system in Forest City, and people can get out and get active while they’re getting service on their coach or visiting our manufacturing facility,” Jefson said.
While the promotion draws attention to Winnebago’s social media outlets, Jefson said the deal was designed to appeal to all ages of consumers.
“This is something that anyone can be excited about,” he said. “I know people who are over 70 years old and enjoy riding their bicycle. … You don’t have to go on a 40-mile ride to see the benefits of bicycling – just get out and see the view.”
The companies also will offer secondary prizes, such as bicycle helmets, Winnebago Outdoor apparel and other bicycle accessories.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Winnebago,” Schwinn Senior Director of Marketing Milissa Rick said. “The Winnebago brand encourages families to explore the outdoors, and at Schwinn we do the same but on two wheels.”
