Work Starts on Travel Lite Facility

The heavy equipment is in place and work is set to begin at Travel Lite’s new $5 million facility in Syracuse, Ind.

When completed, the 27 acres will include and four buildings housing the company’s promotion staff, offices, fiberglass facility and production lines for both travel trailers and truck campers.

Travel Lite will be relocating to the site at the corner of U.S. Highway 6 and State Route 13 in southern Elkhart County from its current site in New Paris, Ind.

The work kicks off just a week before Travel Lite President Dustin Johns and crew head off to display at the RV Industry Association’s National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky.

National Sales Manager Chuck Frederick said the manufacturer will be located in the West Hall near the registration desk.

Frederick said the spot is located away from the main foot traffic for most manufacturers, so he is hoping dealers will make their way into the hall.

Travel Lite will have four times the number of models on display that it featured a year ago. Six Falcon travel trailers, three Falcon F-Lites starting at 1,692 pounds and eight truck campers will be exhibited by Travel Lite.

“We’re going to start focusing back toward truck campers a little more,” Frederick said. “Last year, we didn’t show any at Louisville.”

Travel Lite will show several camper floorplans that are easily handled by a half-ton pickup.
