NeVelle wears many hats as the president of Skaggs RV Outlet, but his role goes far beyond a typical executive title. He founded the dealership from the ground up and continues to lead it with a hands-on, service-first approach.

In what ways has NeVelle gone above and beyond for Skaggs RV Outlet?

NeVelle leads by example, embodying servant leadership in every action. Whether it’s helping a technician in the service bay, jumping in to locate a hard-to-find part or staying late to walk a customer through their new RV, NeVelle is always the first to step in and the last to seek recognition.

When severe storms hit the area, NeVelle didn’t just check on the dealership — he showed up at his team members’ homes to help them secure damage, tarp roofs and make emergency repairs. He was there in the dark, in the rain, putting their safety and well-being before his own. He’s also the one team members call when their car won’t start or they’re facing a personal challenge, because they know he’ll show up without hesitation, his nominator says.

How does NeVelle’s tenure and experience contribute to the company?

NeVelle brings over four decades of RV industry experience to the dealership, starting from the 1970s. From those early days preparing units for delivery, he gained a firsthand appreciation for the hard work behind the scenes, which drives his leadership style today, his nominator says. With 42 years of dealership ownership, along with experience founding and running a conversion van manufacturing company, NeVelle offers a rare and invaluable 360-degree view of the RV industry. Because he’s done nearly every job in the dealership, NeVelle meets team members where they are, providing practical, respectful guidance rooted in real-world understanding.

How does NeVelle mentor or support other employees?

NeVelle supports his team through quiet consistency, hands-on guidance and a genuine investment in their growth, both personally and professionally. Many of Skaggs RV Outlet’s long-time team members started in entry-level roles and credit NeVelle’s mentorship for their advancement. He doesn’t just give instructions — he builds confidence. He encourages problem-solving, supports employees through mistakes and creates space for them to take ownership of their roles. He also checks in when someone is going through a tough time and steps in to help however he can, his nominator says.

What else should we know about NeVelle?

NeVelle is a dedicated community leader, industry advocate and tireless champion for RV dealers and consumers. He currently serves as the RVDA delegate for Kentucky and has played an instrumental role in shaping key legislation that benefits the RV industry. NeVelle is also deeply involved in community service. He serves on the board of directors for the Rineyville Volunteer Fire Department and previously held the role of fire chief. He has chaired in the Heartland Homecoming Parade for over 25 years, is a supporter of the WHAS Crusade for Children and mentors youth, including his role as chairman of the Kentucky State 4-H Horse Show. NeVelle also serves on the board of the RV Safety & Education Foundation.

What has it meant to work in the RV industry this long?

It’s been rewarding to be able to help families enjoy their travels and make memories as they enjoy the outdoors. RVs have evolved so much over the past 50 years. From the ways they are built to the ways they are marketed, I have seen a lot of advancements and improvements in every part of the RV industry.

What advice do you have for those just starting their careers?

The RV industry is a great place for young people to grow as this industry grows. The recreational lifestyle will continue to grow as it changes to adapt to new demands of young families coming up.
