Founded in 2016 by Jen Hudak and her husband, Chris, Escapod has grown to be one of the leading manufacturers of off-road campers. The company, founded in Jen’s mom’s garage, was ranked the ninth fastest-growing manufacturer in 2021’s Inc. 5000.
“In the ever-evolving RV market, Jen has shown the ability to see market trends and nuances that give Escapod the leg up over competitors. She is able to identify areas of the business that can respond quickly to macro and micro changes,” CEO Chris Hudak says.
A testimony to her competitive spirit, Jen was a former professional skier, two-time world champion and five-time X Games medalist in half-pipe skiing. That drive was taken into improving Escapod’s business alongside her husband and business partners, Chris Eckel and Joshie Fishbein. Together, their commitment to compelling design and innovative manufacturing processes has set the company apart in the industry.
Over the course of five years, Escapod grew its revenue from $250,000 to more than $10 million under Jen’s leadership. The company was also awarded two international design awards and became a leader in the overlanding community for product and customer experience.
“It is humbling to make the 40 Under 40 list for the RV industry. What started as a dream between a husband and wife has grown into something that has transcended us. It’s an absolute honor,” Jen says.
Outside of her success as founder and board member of Escapod Trailers, along with her impressive feats in skiing, Jen is a mountain biker and mother. She also appeared on the 30th season of the Emmy-Award-winning series “The Amazing Race.”
Jen’s advice for upcoming leaders in the RV space:
“People first. It’s a principle that I hold dearly and juggle constantly. People can be your customers, and they can be your employees, but at the end of the day, nothing you achieve can be done without the people taking this journey with you. While it’s impossible to keep everyone happy when balancing the expectations of board members, customers, employees and business partners, you can anchor every decision in trying to find the option that positively impacts the majority.”
