40 Under 40: Matt Eppers

Matt Eppers has only been in his current role at Grand Design RV since November 2023, but he was making his mark in the industry long before he became product and national sales manager of the company’s Transcend brand.

During his seven years in the industry, Matt has become recognized for making RVing more accessible to a wider audience.

“By focusing on affordability and customer satisfaction, he has influenced industry trends and set a new standard for what RV consumers can expect,” says Tony Lizzi, general manager of Grand Design RV. “His leadership is not only about product excellence but also about fostering a community of loyal customers who feel truly connected to the brand.”

Matt came to Grand Design with an impressive track record.

“If you look at Catalina, where he was the national sales and product manager just prior to accepting the role at Grand Design, that brand is up 36.4% in market share,” says Destiny Tolliver, inventory manager at Campers Inn RV.

Catalina was the 20th-ranked travel trailer brand when Matt started at Catalina. As of June this year, they were ranked 11th. Matt is making moves with Transcend, too.

“His deep market knowledge and intuitive approach to product development have positioned Transcend as a top choice for budget-conscious RVers, without sacrificing quality or features,” Tony says.

Matt has been pivotal in helping Grand Design RV navigate significant industry challenges, including supply chain disruptions and economic pressures.

“By leading efforts to optimize materials and components for the Transcend line, Matt ensured production stayed on track without sacrificing quality,” Tony says. “In response to rising inflation, he expanded the Transcend product line to include more affordable models, making RV ownership accessible during tough economic times. His focus on innovation and customer satisfaction has also helped maintain strong customer loyalty, keeping the Transcend line competitive and relevant. Through his proactive leadership, Matt has helped Grand Design RV overcome obstacles and emerge stronger, with a product line that continues to lead the market.”

Matt also serves on the Michigan RV and Campgrounds (MARVAC) board of directors as a manufacturer representative.

When he’s not working, he enjoys playing pickleball, golf and spending time with his family. Walking the Camino de Santiago — a Catholic pilgrimage in Spain — in 27 days (one day less than his brother) is a big life accomplishment, he says.

Matt’s advice for upcoming leaders in the RV space:

“First, find a great role model, and second, learn something from everyone and every situation that you work with or encounter. Some teach you what to do, and some teach you what not to do, but the key is to learn and grow every day. And then realize that this is a team game — it takes a team to win!”
