New Technologies Shaping the Future of the RV Industry

RV industry leaders weigh in on AI, digital retailing, electrification and connected RV systems to watch.

Editor’s Note: This is Part 5 of the eight-part “Key RV Industry Trends & Predictions for 2026.” For the main page with links to all eight parts, click here.

Are there any new technologies, regulations or pieces of legislation that the industry needs to keep its eye on?

Trey Miller, vice president of marketing, Jayco: I see companies embracing behind-the-scenes systems to help automate or streamline their processes and make a more seamless experience for their customers. I also see AI continuing to evolve and become more prevalent in all facets of our business.

Jeffrey Hunter, chairman/CEO of STO Holdings and Storyteller Overland: Constant creativity and connectivity around product innovation and exceptional experience design are at the heart of who we are and what we do here at Storyteller, so we are really jazzed about some of the compelling advances being made in EV platforms, digital controls, solid state battery storage, sustainable composites, etc. But it will always be the Storyteller way to unite next level technology with a human touch to make life better for our owners, our expanded community and, Lord willing, the world at large over time. For all of those reasons, these are truly exciting times!

Jason Nierman, chief revenue officer, Rollick: Yes — several emerging technologies are poised to reshape the RV industry over the next five years. First, the shift toward more advanced digital retailing will continue. Consumers will expect to validate price, understand payments and complete more of the buying process online. Tools like RollickEngage will evolve to support deeper deal structuring and more personalized workflows. Second, first-party data and AI-driven personalization will have a major impact. Dealers and OEMs will use richer consumer insights to tailor marketing, automate follow-up and better predict buying intent. Rollick is already investing heavily in these capabilities through RollickEngage, Aimbase and GoRollick integrations. Finally, the industry will see meaningful progress in connected vehicle data and ownership-phase engagement, allowing OEMs and dealers to stay connected with customers beyond the initial sale. This will open new opportunities for service revenue, loyalty programs and lifecycle marketing. Together, these innovations will push the RV market toward a more digital, data-driven and customer-centric model — and Rollick plans to be a key enabler of that shift.

Susan Carpenter, aftermarket manager, B&B Molders: Quiet, electrified, lightweight and connected RVs — paired with smarter campgrounds and EV integration — will define competitiveness, with early winners focusing on 48-volt architectures, efficient heat‑pump HVAC, durable composites and software.

Juan Tejeda, CEO, PPL Motor Homes: Yes, several emerging technologies are poised to reshape the RV industry over the next five years. Advancements in digital retailing, AI-driven customer engagement and data analytics are transforming how dealers connect with and serve customers. Consumers increasingly expect a seamless and transparent experience across every stage of their journey. In addition, smart RV technology, improved energy systems and enhanced connectivity will continue to elevate the ownership experience. For PPL, the greatest opportunity lies in leveraging technology to strengthen human connection by using digital tools to build trust, simplify transactions and help more families enjoy the RV lifestyle with confidence.

Stacey Harris, head of service and retail sales, Truma North America: As mentioned before, going off-grid continues to grow in popularity. Therefore, battery and solar technologies will continue to impact how RVs are built. In addition, customers are demonstrating an interest in single-fuel solutions in the motorized segment. We are seeing more single-fuel appliances, such as the Truma Combi Gasoline and Truma Combi Diesel, provide RV owners with the opportunity to increase fuel efficiency and enjoy the benefits of single-fuel use.
