Go RVing Trends Report: Smart Tech Increasing in RV Sector
The following was included in the RV Industry Association (RVIA)’s News & Insights report.
Go RVing’s Monthly Trends Report spotlighted a recent trend in the increase of smart technology usage in the RV sector.
The implementation of smart technology in RVs changes the way consumers interact with their RVs and helps elevate the outdoor experience.
Smart technology is characterized by interconnected devices that communicate with each other to create a cohesive and responsive living environment.
Smart devices often offer voice activated assistants, intelligent energy management and enhanced security, among other features. These abilities are intended to create convenience and efficiency for the user.
The prevalence of smart technology is skyrocketing. The global number of smart homes in the smart home market was forecast to continuously increase between 2023 and 2028 by in total 424.5 million users (+117.69%).
45% of U.S. internet households have at least one smart home device and 18% have six or more. Approximately 75% of smart home consumers are younger than 55.
Smart technology is now expanding beyond the home and making its way into other sectors, including the RV industry. One example is the debut of the Winnebago Connect, an intelligent RV platform, as well as Airstream’s Smart Control Technology app and these smart RV products from Lippert, including advanced RV AC, Bluetooth sway control systems, temperature sensors and more.
As the RV industry continues to incorporate smart technological advancements in its products (whether through Bluetooth or other intelligent systems), this will create a more comfortable experience for outdoor consumers. As a result, RVing will become an even more personalized experience as travelers gain more freedom and control over their RV’s settings and environment, in addition to their planned outdoor destinations and activities.
