KOA Adds Canada’s Edmonton/Leduc Lions Site to Campground Family

Kampgrounds of America, Inc. welcomed the Edmonton/Leduc Lions KOA Journey to the KOA family of campgrounds.
The transition to a KOA campground marks an exciting new chapter for this campground, which has long been a favorite stop for travelers exploring Alberta’s natural beauty. The campground is poised to continue its tradition of warm hospitality while embracing new opportunities to enhance the guest experience, KOA said.
Nestled just south of Edmonton and conveniently located near the Edmonton International Airport, the Edmonton/Leduc Lions KOA Journey provides a welcoming retreat for campers. The campground has been a staple in the region for years, serving as a key stop for travelers heading toward Jasper and Banff National Parks. With its close proximity to Nisku Industrial Park, the largest oil and gas industrial park in Canada, the campground also attracts business travelers seeking comfortable accommodations.
“We’re happy to bring the KOA brand to this location and welcome even more campers to the region,” said Ken Albertson of the Edmonton/Leduc Lions KOA Journey. “We’ve built a loyal guest base over the years, particularly on weekends, and we see a great opportunity to expand our reach. Joining the KOA family will boost our visibility and attract more travelers heading to Alaska and Western Canada, ultimately driving long-term growth for the campground.”
Campgrounds have a significant economic and cultural impact on local communities. According to KOA’s annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, campers injected $61 billion into local economies in 2024, with the average camper spending $200 daily while camping. Campers are looking to experience the culture of local regions, with 27% of campers saying they are interested in visiting small towns, and another 27% drawn to food tourism.
Conveniently located near the highways and byways of North America, KOA Journey campgrounds are the perfect stop after a long day on the road. With long pull-thru RV sites for quick and easy setup, well-lit after-hours check-in, and a robust line of RV supplies, KOA Journey campgrounds promise a hassle-free stay for travelers.
The Edmonton/Leduc Lions KOA Journey is one of the few campgrounds in the area offering 50-amp power, making it a prime destination for RVers with large rigs. With space to accommodate RVs of all sizes, guests can enjoy a hassle-free stay with easy access to the region’s attractions. Additionally, the campground features a children’s playground, two pickleball courts, and an on-site event hall, ideal for family reunions, small weddings, and group gatherings.
Looking ahead, Albertson and the Leduc Lions Club have exciting plans for the property. A major expansion is in the preliminary planning stages, with the goal of relocating to a nearby site next to Telford Lake. This move will provide even more space for campers and allow for expanded amenities to enhance the guest experience.
The Edmonton/Leduc Lions KOA Journey is one of more than 500 open-to-the-public KOA campgrounds in the U.S. and Canada. Other brands in the KOA Family of Campgrounds include KOA Holidays, designed as the ideal base camp for the great outdoors, offering plenty of activities and amenities for every type of camper. KOA Resorts provide an abundance of staff-led activities, on-site dining, group meeting space and more.
Located at 4314 Lions Park Road, Leduc Alberta, the campground is open from April 15 to Oct. 15.
