Demco Products, a leader in American-made towing solutions, announced the launch of the Recon Stealth Gooseball-Mounted Fifth Wheel Hitch, the industry’s first foldable fifth wheel hitch and the newest evolution in the Recon lineup, Demco Products said in a release. Designed for truck owners and RVers who demand serious towing capability, safety and everyday bed utility, the Recon Stealth delivers full fifth-wheel strength in a compact, easy-to-store design.
Conventional fifth wheel hitches are heavy, difficult to remove and often sacrifice valuable bed space. While fifth wheel to gooseneck pin box and lightweight fifth wheel hitch alternatives are easier to handle, both fail to deliver the ride quality, durability and secure towing performance serious towers depend on, with the latter still requiring to be physically lifted out of the bed, Demco said.
Demco developed the Recon Stealth to eliminate this compromise. The key is a patent-pending folding base that collapses into a small movable package with a simple motion, allowing operators to keep their truck bed open and reclaim their space back when the hitch isn’t in use; all without lifting a hitch in and out of the bed.
With a durable yet easy to handle three-piece steel design, the Recon Stealth is a unique combination of being easy to store, with the robust performance required for demanding towing environments. Each component is lightweight and manageable on its own, making transport simple and allowing the hitch to be stored in a truck bed, camper compartment or even on a garage shelf.
And for those who want dedicated in-bed storage, Demco is also offering an all-new optional bulkhead (front of the bed near the cab) MOLLE Rack, engineered to secure the folded hitch safely and accessibly during travel or downtime, with support for any other MOLLE-compatible accessories.
But practicality was just as important as storage in the Stealth’s development, Demco said. When it’s time to tow, the Stealth can be installed or removed in under five minutes using only a torque wrench and two sockets.
Despite its compact storage profile, the Recon Stealth retains the same proven Recon Gooseball mounted design, sharing the same head, upright and gooseball attachment system as the standard Recon Gooseball, including Demco’s wrap-around jaw with lock bar and dual-articulation head. Three height adjustments and 4-inch & 5-inch tall 2-5/16″ gooseball compatibility cover a wide range of applications, with universal fitment for all OEM fifth-wheel/gooseneck prep packages and other aftermarket gooseneck hitches.
