Ultrafabrics Launches Showroom for Design Week
Ultrafabrics has launched a program focusing on color, comfort and Japanese-inspired design trends for Clerkenwell Design Week running May 21-23.
The brand of fabrics, which supplies animal-free materials to luxury brands, is taking visitors to its showroom which features installations, expert talks, and interactive activities.

Under the theme “20:20,: the architecture and design community is encouraged to explore the Japanese pedigree of Ultrafabrics and the role that color and comfort commands in our lives.
“We chose Clerkenwell as the location for our first global showroom, which opened in 2018, because it is a valuable hub of business and creativity within the A&D community,” said Nicole Meier, Ultrafabrics director of branding. “We are excited to be activating these inspirational events for the 2019 edition of Clerkenwell Design Week.”
Artist Judy Robinson has created a dramatic, layered installation using Ultrafabrics products in the large, floor-to-ceiling windows of the brand’s Clerkenwell showroom. Robinson’s laser-cut patterns are inspired by Ultrafabrics’ 20-year history of manufacturing in Japan.
At 1 p.m. on Wednesday, trend forecaster Phil Pond of Scarlet Opus will present a talk that will explore design trends affecting international markets across industries, and will touch on the Japanese experience of “satori.” Textile designer and color expert Kimberle Frost will host a talk on color trends and the human connection to color on Thursday.
Ultrafabrics also will feature an “Aura Photography” session at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Participants will have their photograph taken and receive an image, illustrating an arc of colors that represent their “aura” or “energy.”
