NMMA Reports Retail Trends for Cruising, Watersports and Fishing Boats
The National Marine Manufacturers Association has released the Cruiser, Watersport, Fishing Boat and Trailer Sales Trends section of its 2020 U.S. Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract.
The report examines retail sales of new boats used for cruising, water sports and fishing.
Findings in this section of the abstract include:
Retail sales of new cruisers reached a 12-year high in 2020, up 19.5 percent compared with 2019.
Sales of new water sports boats rose 12.8 percent in 2020, surpassing the high set in 2007. Increased sales of pontoon boats (up 17.3 percent), personal watercraft (up 8.3 percent) and inboard wake-sports boats (up 21.4 percent) were major contributors to the increase in 2020 water sports boat sales.
Fishing boat sales were up 10.3 percent in 2020, the highest annual total since 2007.
Other sections and the full edition (digital and print) of the annual abstract will be available later this summer. NMMA members can access the digital files here.
