RVing in New England: Tales of Innovation

The Facebook live show RVing in New England tonight features two sets of guests with remarkable stories of inspiration converted to a business idea.

The program, which weekly features guests from all segments of the RV industry, carries the title this week of “Lighting Fires of Inspiration and Innovation.”

Chris McCasland and Michael Opalski are two next door neighbors who lost their jobs in 2020 due to the pandemic. The two dads, who were friends for years, saw the upside of being able to spend more time with their families, often making s’mores around a bonfire. With no idea when their industries would open back up, they set out to create their own company, using those bonfire nights as inspiration. Within months, they launched their product: City Bonfires, a portable, eco-friendly, reusable mini bonfire that’s 100% made in America.

For former NASA engineer Mike Beyrodt, it was a night of below-zero camping in West Virginia when he and a buddy were unable to get a fire going that was his inspiration for Pull Start Fire. Pull Start Fire is a “fire in a box,” allowing a fire to be started anywhere, in any weather conditions.
