‘Super Lawyers’ Panel Set for RVDA Con/Expo
The 2023 RV Dealers Convention/Expo will feature a special “Super Lawyers” Session with RV industry legal experts who will train dealers in how to avoid costly consumer lawsuits. Audience members will once again be treated to a mock trial of a consumer claim against an RV dealership, and the audience will serve as jurors in the trial. Last year’s session received a 9.9 rating out of 10.
The Super Lawyers panel, comprised of veteran attorneys and top RV industry veterans who resolve consumer issues for RV dealers and manufacturers, will use the mock trial to teach RV dealers how to prevent lawsuits against their dealership by partnering with their manufacturers.
Speakers presenting during the “The Super Lawyers Take You into the Courtroom” session include Dave Thomas, general counsel of Keystone; mediator and RV dealer/manufacturer trainer Harold Oehler of Oehler Mediation and Training; and James S. Ganther of Mosaic Compliance Services, LLC. Also presenting during this session and a companion training session on Thursday morning is Tobi Conroy, Thor Motor Coach consumer affairs liaison, and Judy Bolton, former director of customer experience for Lazydays. Bolton is currently an RV industry consultant.
The Thursday morning companion session is entitled “How to Partner with your Manufacturer to Take Control of Litigation and Recover Your Customer.” Oehler will emcee the Thursday morning session. RVDA’s Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, Brett Richardson will emcee the Super Lawyers session.
The Super Lawyers Session will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the Champagne 3 and 4 ballrooms. The “How to Partner with your Manufacturer” training session will be held on Thursday from 10:15-11:15 a.m. in the same room. The 2023 RV Dealers Convention/Expo is scheduled for Nov. 6-10 at Paris Las Vegas. Manufacturer representatives attending the RVDA Convention are invited to attend this session and share their ideas for preventing litigation during the audience discussion segment.
These two training sessions will teach dealers:
- How to partner with their manufacturers to prevent consumer lawsuits
- How to eliminate lawsuits inexpensively and quickly as soon as the claim is filed
- How to work together with your manufacturer so that the manufacturer is more likely to pay for the dealer’s legal defense and protect the dealer from judgment
The Super Lawyers training sessions were conceived by Harold Oehler, a full-time mediator and dealer trainer with more than 30 years of experience litigating and mediating RV recreational vehicle defect and accident claims involving RV dealers and manufacturers. Oehler offers mediation services and dealer training across the country either live or via Zoom. He received the RVDA Chairman’s Service Award in 2010 and 2019 for outstanding contribution to the RV industry.
“This panel has proven to be popular with our members, and this year’s group promises to feature new strategies that dealers, manufacturers, and their management teams can use to avoid expensive and time-consuming litigation,” said RVDA President Phil Ingrassia. “It’s always better to start thinking about topics like this in a seminar session before any of it becomes a reality.”
