Open House 2025: Newmar Corp.
The residential trend of two-tone cabinetry is coming to Newmar for 2025, says Matt Ellinger, Newmar vice president of sales.
“We’ve really streamlined our cabinetry to focus on some of the most accepted colors and some of the most trendy colors that are happening within the industry,” he says. “For the first time at Newmar, we’ve instituted two-tone cabinetry that a dealer or a customer could specialize.”
The upper cabinets will be white, Ellinger says, and they can be paired a couple different ways.
“At Newmar, I like to say we’re customizable luxury,” he says. “What we do really well is you choose how to build your coach that you’d like to keep on the lot or how you think a retail customer would like to build it.”
For the Essex brand, there will be two interior offerings: the contemporary and the traditional. With the contemporary, Ellinger says they’ve gone a bit trendy — changing the wood and some other aspects. The Essex will have exterior paint that ties in with either the contemporary or traditional aesthetic as well.
The flagship King Aire will also see a new exterior body paint option with the masterpiece finish and the Onyx package. While the masterpiece finish is available only on the King Aire, the Onyx package is available on the Dutch Star up to King Aire and includes blacked-out tires, logos, trim, mirrors and more.
The Onyx package will be on display during Open House Week at Newmar’s location at Ramco Engineering, 2805 Frederic Drive, Elkhart, Indiana.
Additional updates include “forward-thinking, technology-driven change,” Ellinger says, including doing away with switches in the coaches and using 5-inch LCD display units in Newmar’s entire lineup. The company also upgraded its wiring that makes maintenance and service at the dealership much less cumbersome.
“We’ve been pretty consistent with our appliances throughout the lineup. We only use top-tier brands,” Ellinger says. “We use the high-end JBL radio systems. Most of our coaches have 360-degree cameras around the entire coach. We’ve been very consistent with using only high-end suppliers that give us the best chance of, ultimately, the coach just working … when you need it to.”
For 2025, a new double-bathroom bunkhouse floorplan will be available in the Dutch Star. The Bay Star has also added a 38-foot floorplan with a king-size bed and a 30-foot floorplan also with a king bed.
Ellinger says the double-bathroom floorplan has been popular with customers.
“We wanted to attract the same amount and even grow our bunk business. I think to do that, that’s what we’ve been hearing from the retail feedback,” Ellinger says about having two full baths.
“We’ve really tried to concentrate on what the dealer would want to stock that would entice that customer demand,” he says. “The market is very challenging right now. We’ve seen sales that resemble last year being relatively flat. Newmar has gained market share throughout — very much in our gas lineup from the start of the year through June, we’ve really picked up a lot of market share in our gas line.”
Ellinger says Newmar has a lot of runway in its Super C lineup.
“We really believe that we can compete in the marketplace in all aspects of the Super Cs,” he says. “We’re excited for what Newmar has to offer in 2025 because we’re coming out with some things that haven’t been seen before in the luxury diesel space. We love the innovation of a black Onyx package and the masterpiece finish paint — some of the things that we’re offering the high-end customers [that] we’re really excited about.”
