A recent report by Elena Gorgan of AutoEvolution highlights the Aboard T4 hybrid electric travel trailer. The following is an excerpt:
Aboard is a new name to the RV scene — a very new name. Aboard RV, the company behind it, completed a Pre-Series A financing round in May 2026, which allowed them to take what will become their flagship product into advanced prototype and validation stage and public debut.
The Aboard travel trailer, as it was called then, was introduced as a concept a short while before that, in March. May marked its official introduction online and in physical form, with the company bringing out a prototype to local trade shows to start gauging public reactions to it.
Aboard describes the T4 as “the only travel trailer that combines a hybrid-electric powertrain, an intelligent on-board range extender, and smart towing technology in a single purpose-built platform.” They also call it a “unique” travel trailer because of how it’s built, how it integrates tech to offer true off-grid capabilities, and the degree of comfort it promises.
While the T4 may be outstanding in all these ways, it’s not unique, so it’s not the first or the only travel trailer of the kind. In fact, it debuts as part of an industry-wide move from fully electric towables to EREVs, hybrid-electric extended range electric travel trailers, which are right now considered far more reliable, convenient and appealing variants.
So let’s chalk up all this talk about uniqueness and trendsetting to poetic license for the sake of marketing. The T4 still makes a good case for itself as a future-proof, family-friendly off-grid option for extended use even without it.
And we now have a better idea of what it has working in its favor, because Aboard RV has finally released all the numbers.
The T4 comes in at 23 feet and 8 inches (7.2 meters) of exterior length, with 8 feet (2.4 meters) in width. It weighs 6,500 lbs (2,948 kg) empty and will have a cargo carrying capacity of 1,000 lbs (453 kg), with 800 lbs (363 kg) of tongue weight.
It will carry 52 gallons (197 liters) of freshwater, 35 gallons (132 liters) of gray, and 30 gallons (113 liters) of black water. It will feature 120V and 240V outlets, AC & DC fast charging, and will have instant hot water. Heat and AC are handled by a heat pump HVAC system.
