Last week, the House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) and Ranking Member Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) introduced the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act 250 (GAOA 250), the RV Industry Association (RVIA) reported June 11.
The bill will reauthorize and strengthen the National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF), originally established through the Great American Outdoors Act in 2020.
The GAOA 250 invests $1.9 billion annually in America’s national parks and public lands over each of the next over each of the next five years. Funded by private donations, onshore energy revenue and new foreign visitor fees, GAOA 250 enhances access, invests in some of our nation’s most treasured assets, creates new jobs and revitalizes rural, gateway economies.
Earlier in June, RVIA also called for the introduction of this bill to reauthorize the LRF during Advocacy Day, when 103 Association members and partners attended 142 meetings with federal legislators and policymakers on Capitol Hill. Read more on Advocacy Day here.
