KOA Care Camps has announced its inaugural  National Cancer Survivors Day text-a-thon. This mobile event is created to raise necessary funds to ensure children with cancer can attend one of more than 133 medically supervised camps this summer. There, they will be able to experience the healing nature of camp in a safe, fun environment of their peers. The text-a-thon will kick off on June 1, and wrap up on National Cancer Survivors Day, June 3.

Celebrity ambassadors Steve Arpin and Stephanie Quayle have joined forces to support the event.

To participate, mobile users are asked to text CAMP to 20222, and a $25 donation will be made to the KOA Care Camps.

Additionally, participants are asked to leverage their social networks to recruit more participants to also donate. Donations received will ensure that oncology camps nationwide have the necessary resources requested to accommodate the needs of the children attending camp this summer.

“This year, our goal for celebrating National Cancer Survivors Day is to ensure that Care Camps have the resources they need to provide a safe, meaningful camping experience this summer for children with cancer. This requires the proper resources and staffing to support our campers,” said Wade Elliott, chairman of the Care Camp board of directors. “Our need for more financial resources to support this effort is significant. I’m proud to see our partners like Stephanie Quayle, Steve Arpin, and Kampgrounds of America join this text-a-thon way to raise the needed funds to fulfill this urgent need.”
