Go RVing, in effort to keep the industry updated on impactful trends and insights, is talking the perennial trend this time of year: New Year’s resolutions.

The New Year is coming up fast. A popular tradition is coming up with New Year’s resolutions, and, while there are generational differences among the most popular resolutions, common threads tend to be the desire for self-improvement, financial wellness and a balanced lifestyle.

This is a continuation of 2024’s most popular resolutions, which were: saving money (59%), exercising more (50%) and eating healthier (47%), respectively.

Travel also been cited as a popular resolution in the New Year, particularly “soft travel” (characterized by simplicity and relaxation) and “solo travel” (traveling alone).

RV travel aligns well with the prioritization of financial stability and mental/physical health as 2025 ramps up.

A 2023 study conducted by an outside, independent firm found that RV vacations cost much less than other types of vacation travel, even when factoring in fuel prices and the cost of RV ownership. There is an average cost savings of up to 60% for a four-person travel party, while a two-person travel party saves up to an average of 46%, depending on factors such as the type of RV and type of vacation.

According to a study conducted recently by AllTrails and UnYoked, over 400 respondents who spent just two nights and three days camping “offline” reported a 16% reduction in burnout and a 12.7% improvement in overall wellbeing.

The RV industry’s messaging should continue to highlight affordability and the physical and mental benefits of spending time outdoors, whether solo or in the company of others.

This messaging can be achieved via social media strategies that have been covered in Go RVing’s previous Trends To Know throughout the year, including user-generated content and short-form videos.
