Like many companies, ICON is pivoting to find ways to support front-line health-care professionals as they work diligently to combat COVID-19 outbreaks. ICON has begun to produce personal protective equipment (PPE) face shields to help individuals limit their exposure to the virus.
The company was in a position to do so as it had existing access to plastic materials as well as expertise in developing products. The developed polycarbonate full face shield has a rubber foam that sits comfortably on the forehead and helps prevent direct exposure to the face from airborne droplets. The size is easily adjusted with a secure hook and loop fastener.
“We saw an opportunity to help our local health-care workers relatively quickly and realized we could scale this to help other regions affected by COVID-19 as well,” said ICON Marketing Manager Jordan Martindale. “There’s positively problems with the previous supply chains right now so we, as manufacturers, had somewhat of an obligation to figure out any ways we could help.”
