N.Y. Town Hopeful About Camping World Location

A Camping World location in Roscoe, Ill., celebrated the new year with a soft opening that led to the sale of 10 RVs in its first week in business.

This story by Susan Vela originally appeared in the Rockford Register Star.

That raised hopes that the new dealership along Interstate 90 will mean good things for the village and surrounding truck stops, motorhome repair shops and other retail businesses. The $8 million development occupies 16 acres along Willowbrook Road, north of Rockton Road.

Camping World raised a 3,200-square-foot American flag up a 130-foot-tall pole on Saturday. American flags of that size fly over 100 Camping World RV SuperCenters across the nation.

Local leaders were in the crowd.

Village Administrator Scott Sanders said the store could generate sales tax revenue of $200,000 a year.
