Obit: Al Haimbach, Longtime Dometic Staffer, Dead at 72
Alfred J. “Al” Haimbach, 72, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Haimbach was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on July 14, 1950, and grew up in Fork River. After graduating from Tri State College (now Trine University) in Angola, Indiana, Haimbach moved to the Elkhart, Indiana, area, where he first worked in the RV industry with Kinder Manufacturing and then Dometic, where he worked for 26 years before retiring in 2012 as vice president of aftermarket.
Haimbach was known for his volunteer work, both with coaching youth sports teams in Elkhart, as well as Meals on Wheels and other nonprofit organizations.
He is survived by his wife and best friend Sandy; he was the proud father of Chris (Julie) Haimbach and Joanna (Drew) Johnson; loving Poppa to Elle, Cora and Carson Haimbach and Millie Johnson; and brother to Madlyn Darmody.
