RVIA Approves 2021 NFPA 1192 Standard
Announced earlier this summer, the RV Industry Association Board of Directors has approved the 2021 edition of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1192 RV Standard with an effective date of Jan. 1, 2021, and a mandatory enforcement date of July 1, 2021.
The NFPA 1192 Standard for RVs is published on a three-year cycle through NFPA’s formal, published processes on the development and approval of code change proposals. Before publishing a new standard, the existing requirements are reviewed and updated for clarity and applicability by the NFPA Technical Committee on RVs that includes representatives from the Association, outside experts, state government officials, and other interested parties.
The RV Industry Association’s Standards Department produces a supporting handbook which expands upon the NFPA 1192 standard as well as the corresponding National Electric Code (NEC) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Low Voltage (LV) standard. The handbook outlines the enforcement positions of the Association and states with their own RV enforcement programs. An updated RV Industry Association RV Handbook will be available in the coming weeks.
The 2021 edition is available for purchase in the RV Industry Association’s online store with a purchase price of $54 for members and $58 for non-members per copy.
