Virtual Guard, a remote video monitoring and proactive security company, foiled an attempted RV theft in real time after its monitoring team detected two suspects entering a commercial RV property after hours and coordinated with responding police, according to a release.
At approximately 12:17 a.m., a truck pulled onto the property, bypassing a barrier by driving up an adjacent grass embankment. Within moments, Virtual Guard‘s AI-assisted monitoring flagged the after-hours activity and alerted the company’s trained remote guards, who verified the threat, tracking the suspects across the site as it happened.
As the suspects attempted to hitch an RV to the truck, Virtual Guard operators issued live audio warnings over the property’s on-site speakers. When the warnings were ignored, the monitoring team provided police dispatch with a real-time description of the suspects, their location and updates as the situation developed. Responding officers arrived as the suspects were attempting to leave the property, and two individuals were apprehended nearby.
“The live monitoring was critical. It enabled Virtual Guard to get ahead of the situation and contact police while the suspects were still on site. By the time they attempted to leave the property, officers were already there to intercept them,” said John Fledderus, chief financial officer of Owasco.
