40 Under 40: Nick Dunning

Truma North America Business Development Manager, With Company: 6 Years

Nick Dunning has been a driving force behind the growth and success of Truma North America’s Business Development team.

Under his leadership, the team has grown its capabilities, providing support for a range of tasks, including new product launches, project management, OEM engineering assistance and market analysis. Nick is leading the way in establishing standardized processes for product development and project management on a global scale.

One of Nick’s most notable achievements has been his role in advancing product quality and innovation, particularly for the North American market. He has led several key initiatives, including the development of new products like the Truma Aventa Ducted Ceiling Assembly and the Truma Aventa + Soft Start integration.

His skill in bringing teams together across departments and locations, even internationally, has been vital in delivering better solutions for Truma’s customers, according to his peers.

When asked about his accomplishments, Nick says, “I am proud to be part of the team that launched the Truma Aventa, which is the first Truma air conditioning offering in North America. I am also proud to have helped develop and be part of a team that is so focused on delivering great products and support to our customers.”

Nick’s leadership has enhanced the customer experience, particularly in North America, where his innovative approaches have improved product installations. By automating line audits at OEMs and increasing them by over 100%, Nick has maintained consistent build quality, resulting in a notable decrease in warranty claims and customer complaints related to installation problems.

Despite his busy schedule as business development manager, Nick remains actively involved in the industry, attending RV Industry Association (RVIA) leadership events and serving on RVIA standards subcommittees.

Outside of work, he’s just as committed to his family, coaching his kids’ baseball and soccer teams. When he’s not on the field, you can often find him enjoying a round of golf.

Nick’s advice for upcoming leaders in the RV space:

“Be flexible, be persistent and believe in your goals and your mission. The RV industry can change quickly, but the end goal should always be to help create great experiences and memories for RVers.”

What it means to Nick to be a 40 Under 40 honoree:

“It means a lot to me to be recognized as a leader in the industry. There can be lots of highs and lows in any job or career. An award like this gives you an opportunity to reflect on all of it and provides some encouragement moving forward.”
