Hipcamp Names Former Expedia CEO to Board of Directors
Hipcamp has named former Expedia CEO and outdoor enthusiast Erik Blachford to its board of directors.
Blachford brings decades of expertise in travel innovation, sustainability and strategic growth to Hipcamp’s mission, the company said.
“Erik’s career reads like a greatest-hits album of the travel and sustainability space — he’s led Expedia, helped shape companies like Zillow and Peloton, and dedicated himself to making travel more sustainable through TerraPass and the Adventure Travel Trade Association,” Hipcamp said.
Hipcamp’s mission is simple: Get more people outside while supporting local economies and the people who care for the land. Blachford’s expertise in scaling travel marketplaces and growing global brands will help it do just that, ensuring Hipcamp continues to be the best way to discover and book incredible campsites.

As the former CEO of Expedia, he helped transform online travel as we know it, leading brands like Hotels.com and Hotwire to massive success. He’s also a passionate advocate for sustainable travel and conservation, having served on the U.S. National Council of the World Wildlife Fund and led TerraPass to help reduce carbon footprints.
Blachford’s love for the outdoors goes beyond the boardroom. He owns and operates Camp Nominingue, a legendary wilderness adventure camp in Québec, where generations of campers have built lifelong memories in the great outdoors.
Blachford will be helping Hipcamp expand its reach, forge exciting new partnerships and ensure that more people than ever can find their perfect camping experience.
“Erik’s passion for getting people outside, paired with his deep expertise in travel and sustainability, makes him the perfect fit for Hipcamp,” says Alyssa Ravasio, founder and CEO of Hipcamp. “We can’t wait to work together to grow Hipcamp and inspire even more people to connect with nature.”
“Hipcamp has built an incredible platform that not only makes outdoor experiences more accessible but also empowers landowners and fosters environmental stewardship. I look forward to the work ahead as we continue to redefine how people explore the outdoors,” he said.
