Go RVing Highlights ‘BOO-m’ in Halloween Participation
Go RVing tracks and reports on emerging travel and consumer behavior trends in RV Industry Association newsletters, providing actionable opportunities for brands to integrate into their marketing campaigns. One of October’s travel trends focuses on Halloween.
Halloween is expanding from a single-day holiday into a weeks-long season of experiences including decorating contests, community events and getting outdoors.
Per data from Circana, over 50% of American families will participate in Halloween festivities over the course of several weeks building up to the holiday, so the time is now to plan and implement your marketing tactics, Go RVing said.
Bring this to life in your brand’s marketing now:
- SOCIAL: Create and showcase emotive content such as campgrounds full of trick-or-treating events with excited children; children swapping their candy haul at the picnic table; community parades (kids, dogs, golf carts and RVs); bonding over decorating; and the dog enjoying the passerby at the campsite on their place.
- EXPERIENTIAL: Host a simple “Spooky Saturday” activation: decorate RVs, offer a pumpkin-carving station, invite families to tour units or create a campsite trick-or-treat loop.
- BLOG/EMAIL: Draft and share content that features local “haunted hidden gems” in your market(s) and feature nearby RV-friendly campgrounds or places to camp in your rig.
The Takeaway
Halloween doesn’t just have to be about the candy — it can be about bringing family and friends together to have experiences that can feel spooky but ultimately leads to giggles and memories.
