RVeterans: Randy Murray

Director of Orientation, Pete’s RV Center, 25 years in the industry

As the director of orientation at Pete’s RV Center, Randy Murray is responsible for the orientation departments of all three locations and ensuring that customers leave understanding how their new RV functions and what products can make their camping experience more enjoyable. Additionally, Randy does all the in-house technical training, imparting his decades of knowledge to team members to provide better customer service.

Randy is dedicated to his work, even assisting customers after hours to help repair issues, answer questions or troubleshoot problems that arise while they’re out camping. He has recorded informational videos for the Pete’s RV Center team as well as “tips and tricks” videos for social media.

“Randy is our go-to for all things technical,” says his nominator, Casey King. “If he doesn’t have the answer, he has a network of industry professionals at his fingertips that he has built close relationships with.”

Prior to joining the RV industry, Randy was an electrician and a welder fabricator. As an electrician, he quickly rose through the ranks, transitioning from residential and commercial installations to crafting custom haulers at Pete’s RV. With experience spanning technician roles to sales and now management in fixed operations, colleagues admire Randy’s problem-solving prowess and his ability to tackle any challenge. He has also collaborated with leading RV manufacturers to enhance product quality and user-friendliness.

Randy has hosted multiple seminars during show seasons and does weekly training with sales and service in seven states, so it’s no surprise that he’s passionate about mentoring and sharing his knowledge with other people.

“I want my legacy to be about training employees and customers alike,” Randy says, reflecting on his time in the RV industry. “I would like to be remembered as the guy that explained things simply so anyone could understand [and] also as the guy that would help anybody in need.

“I work for and with some of the most amazing people I know,” Randy says, “and I truly love what I do.”

Family is important to Randy as well. “[He] is an incredible father to his daughter,” Casey says. “They take numerous father-daughter trips each year, and you can tell just how proud he is of her when he talks about her.”
