THOR Industries this week teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County to build the walls of the future home for the Cole-Chilton family.

The panel build took place Tuesday morning at THOR’s corporate offices, 601 E. Beardsley Ave. in Elkhart, Indiana, where approximately 50 THOR employees worked alongside future Habitat homeowner Montasia Cole-Chilton. Volunteers worked in two shifts constructing the interior and exterior walls of the home in the parking lot.

Habitat for Humanity logoMontasia applied for Habitat’s homeownership program in the fall of 2022 and was accepted this past October. Since then, she has completed 200 sweat equity hours and is saving for her down payment. Montasia is a mother of six and works full-time as a warehouse coordinator at Voyant Beauty.

This is THOR’s fourth year to participate as a panel build sponsor. The company said partnering with Habitat provides participants with a valuable team-building experience that enhances communication and leadership skills and unites employees.

“THOR is honored to be a four-time build partner with Habitat for Humanity,” said THOR President and CEO Bob Martin. “Helping to support affordable housing for people in our community is one small way in which we can make an impact in the communities where we work, live and play.”

The Cole-Chilton home will be a two-story, 1600-square-foot, four-bedrooms, 2½-bath home.
