Shady Oaks Camping Resort Celebrates Grand Reopening

Shady Oaks Camping Resort celebrated its grand reopening on May 30, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that marked an exciting new chapter under new ownership. The event, hosted at the resort’s scenic 70 Moffitt Road location, welcomed community members, partners and local leaders to explore the extensive renovations and reimagined vision for the beloved campground.

Set on 44 wooded acres in the northern Adirondack Mountains — just minutes from Lake Champlain — Shady Oaks now offers a refreshed, modern camping experience with a focus on community, comfort and environmental stewardship, the company said in a release.

Renovations and new features include:

  • A fully stocked Camp Store for essentials and local goods
  • “The Great Room,” a cozy communal space for gatherings and rainy-day activities
  • Modernized restrooms, showers, and 24-hour laundry facilities
  • Outdoor recreation areas with fire pits, horseshoe pits, and cornhole sets

Campsite options range from seasonal and short-term stays to traditional tent camping and 30- and 50-amp full hook-up RV sites with water and sewer. Coming soon, visitors will also be able to book The Franklin, a retro camper rental, and a geo-dome glamping tent.

The excitement doesn’t stop with the renovations, Shady Oaks said. The resort is rolling out a full lineup of events this season, inviting campers and locals alike to join in the fun.

Guests can now enjoy:

  • Films – Classic 16mm movies screened in the Great Room, with outdoor showings coming later this summer at the soon-to-be-unveiled Rambler Theater
  • Pizza Fridays – Featuring Cornerstone Pizza’s wood-fired favorites onsite
  • Live Music – The first concert will take place on Saturday, June 14, with performances by The Brule County Bad Boys and Marcus Carson. The lawn opens at 5:00 p.m.; music begins at 7:00 p.m. BYOB. $5 cover for guests; free for campers

With its new direction, Shady Oaks said it is not only a rejuvenated destination for campers but also a vibrant hub for local tourism and events. Conveniently located near I-87 and within easy reach of Plattsburgh City Beach, Lake Champlain and Adirondack outdoor adventures, the resort combines the peace of nature with thoughtful hospitality — redefining what it means to camp in comfort.
