This rebrand marks a new chapter in the company’s journey while honoring its deep roots in American manufacturing, outdoor adventure and clean energy leadership, Dometic said.
Founded in 2010 in a small garage in Bend, Oregon, Zamp Solar was born from a personal need and a powerful idea. When founder John Yozamp was asked to turn off a noisy generator powering his sleep apnea machine during a camping trip, he discovered the quiet, transformative potential of solar energy. That moment sparked a mission: to make off-grid solar power accessible, reliable and adventure-ready.
With the help of Steve Nelson and Conor Miller, Zamp Solar quickly grew into a trusted name in the RV industry and beyond. Today, handcrafted solar systems power everything from iconic brands like Outside Van, Remote Vans and Winnebago RVs to roadside safety signs, automatic gates and even future-ready housing solutions in developing nations.
The rebranding reflects the company’s integration into Dometic, the global leader in smart and reliable products for RVs, vans, boats and overlanding rigs. As Dometic Mobile Power Solutions, the Americas team will continue to design and manufacture high-quality solar products. The company remains deeply committed to investing in the clean energy future.
