Closest KOA to Chiricahua National Park Adds New Amenities
Kampgrounds of America (KOA), a leader in outdoor hospitality, announced new amenities at the Willcox Wine Country KOA Holiday in Willcox, Arizona. The campground has added a pickleball court and three fenced Paw Pen Sites, KOA said in a recent release.
Willcox Wine Country KOA is the closest KOA campground to Chiricahua National Park. Located just 39 miles from the park’s Visitor Center, making it an easy destination for national park goers.
Chiricahua became the nation’s 64th national park on Oct. 20; it is the first new national park in six years. Known as the “Wonderland of Rocks,” the 12,000-acre park is famous for towering volcanic rock spires and trails such as the 3.3-mile Echo Canyon Loop. KOA Holidays provide the perfect basecamp for exploring the surrounding area, offering campers a comfortable place to unwind and enjoy campground amenities after a day of adventure, KOA said.
The new pickleball court offers complimentary rackets and balls, making it easy and accessible for all campers. Each Paw Pen Site is a fenced, private dog site with an off-leash dog run of more than 150 square feet, plus a seating area, pet waste station, fire hydrant and fire experience. According to KOA’s 2026 Camping & Outdoor Hospitality Report, 42% of campers say it is important to be able to get their dog off-leash when camping.

The campground has a strong record of guest service. KOA named the Willcox Wine Country KOA as the Rising Star Campground in 2022, and in 2026 it was recognized as a World Class Guest Service KOA campground with a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 90. NPS measures how likely guests are to recommend a business, on a scale from -100 to 100.
“Chiricahua’s new national park status is bringing new visitors to our corner of Arizona, and many of them travel with their dogs,” said Gerry Hodges, owner of the Willcox Wine Country KOA. “Our Paw Pen Sites and pickleball court give campers and their pups more to enjoy on property after a day exploring America’s newest national park.”
Located at 700 N. Virginia Ave. in Willcox, the campground is open all year. For more information, visit the campground’s website or call 520-384-3212.
