According to a report from WNDU, Congressman Rudy Yakym visited Forest River in Elkhart Tuesday as part of his “Hoosier Heartland” district tour, which includes stops in all 11 counties of Indiana’s 2nd District.
Yakym walked through the facility to meet with employees and Forest River leadership, discussing the RV industry’s priorities in Washington.
Tax package, RV deductibility
Yakym highlighted provisions of a recently passed tax package during the visit.
“We also spent time talking about things like the Working Families Tax Cut, talking about the fact that we fought for the RV industry in that bill and were able to get full interest deductibility for RVs for the dealers across the country,” Yakym said.
The tax package includes new deductions for tips and overtime and boosts the child tax credit. Yakym said the legislation is producing results.
“They’ve got more money in their pockets in the form of the largest tax returns in American history — when you go through the whole list of no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, tax relief for seniors, an elevated standard deduction, you look at an elevated child tax credit,” Yakym said.
