Thor Motor Coach
What’s in store for the 2021 Thor Motor Coach lineup?
Answer: Plenty, based upon the flurry of press releases Thor Motor Coach has issued in the past several months covering nearly the RV manufacturer’s entire product line. Presented here are just a few highlights related to new model launches and product upgrades.
Class B Motorhomes
TMC’s Sequence and Tellaro offer new floorplans and upgrades for 2021.
The Dodge RAM ProMaster is the chassis of choice for these fuel-efficient and easy-to-drive motorhomes, featuring front-wheel-drive. The layouts are designed to maximize every inch of the 20-foot, 11-inch length motorhomes, which feature a modern cockpit that comes complete with SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation, as well as multiple USB ports.
The Sequence is outfitted with TecnoForm S.p.A. Euro-style cabinetry and stylish fabrics. A new 20A floorplan features a booth dinette with three-point seatbelts, a convertible rear bed and multiple areas for storage that increase functionality inside the van. The optional Sky Bunk sleeping area upgrades sleeping capacity to four people, while allowing a taste of the great outdoors while still indoors.
Meanwhile, Tellaro introduces the new 20KT floorplan for 2021, featuring an expanding sleeper sofa, Thule accessories and swivel cockpit chairs with a flip-up c-top workspace at the passenger seat. Dander- and scratch-resistant leatherette materials, vinyl flooring and hideaway pet food and water dish make for simple travel with a furry friend. TMC says the 20KT has one of the largest refrigerators in the Class B market.
These motorhomes offer a standard 190-watt solar panel, a Truma Combi furnace and water heating system and the optional Re(Li)able lithium power package.
Thor Motor Coach RUVs
In the Recreational Utility Vehicle category, TMC is introducing all-wheel-drive versions for its Gemini and Compass motorhomes, which are built exclusively on the Ford Transit chassis and come equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine driving all the wheels and putting down 306 horsepower and 400 pounds-per-feet of torque.
Modern safety features include hill start assist, AdvanceTrac roll stability, side-wind stabilization, lane departure warning and pre-collision assist with emergency braking.
A new modern interior décor package is available featuring fresh fabric colors with residential cabinets. The cockpit has dual swivel seats, allowing the chairs to become part of the living space when parked. An 8-inch touch screen and Sync 3 audio system provides navigation with voice recognition along with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
The exterior has the classic Class B-plus look, with a large cabover glass and HD-Max fiberglass. These units feature a 100-watt solar panel with room for expansion and a high- er-capacity house battery.
Meanwhile, Thor Motor Coach’s Axis and Vegas Class A RUVs feature new interiors and modern upgrades for 2021.
These RUVs are intentionally smaller Class A motorhomes built exclusively on the Ford E-Series chassis in lengths ranging from 25 to 28 feet. Compared to the outgoing V10 engine, greenhouse gas emissions decrease with the 7.3-liter V8 engine and power increases, as it is rated at 350-horsepower and 468-pounds-per-feet of torque.
A new solar panel option provides 100 watts of sustainable power to the house batteries. The new Axxera 10-inch dash radio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provides the option to use Google, Apple or Waze navigation.
Thor Motor Coach Class C Motorhomes
Thor Motor Coach’s Chateau, Four Winds and Quantum Class C motorhomes received enhancements for the 2021 model year, including interior, exterior and suspension packages.
The Class C motorhomes Ford E-Series chassis now features the new 7.3-liter V8 engine with 350-horsepower and 468-pounds-per-feet of torque. The 31-foot E-Series models feature the SmoothTECH ride enhancement by MORryde – the same suspension used in ambulances for a smoother ride.
All three product lines have varying sizes with chassis offered by Ford, Chevy, or
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, allowing consumers to find the perfect fit for their lifestyle and storage needs.
The Four Winds receives a new look on the exterior with a color change and new graphics. Partial paint packages are available on all models, while the 31-foot models also have full- body paint options.
The Chateau’s interior has many value-adding changes for 2021, with new flooring, countertops, headboards, and furniture. The 31-foot, non-victory series floorplans have increased sizes for the refrigerator, and more cooking capacity in the residential-styled over-the-counter microwave.
The Quantum has a new exterior look, featuring all-new graphics and paint packages. Other notable features include decorative glass inserts for the kitchen cabinet doors and new appliances in the kitchen.
TMC also has updates for its Delano and Tiburon models, built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, featuring a 3-liter V6 diesel engine offering 188 horsepower and 325 pounds per feet of torque.
Class A Gas Motorhomes
The A.C.E., Windsport and Hurricane Class A motorhomes by TMC receive upgrades for 2021, along with the Challenger and Miramar Class A motorhomes. An important update for all of these motorhomes is the 7.3-liter V8 engine, boasting 350-horsepower and 468-pounds-per-feet of torque.
The A.C.E. has a brand-new look with partially painted front caps on the exterior graphic packages, which are further accentuated with new LED rear taillights. A new modern interior décor package is available as part of the “Home Collection,” featuring fresh fabric colors with residential cabinets. In addition, A.C.E. now offers a new 100-watt solar charging system with power controller, prolonging boondocking abilities and improving environmental sustainability.
Hurricane looks fresh with a modern front cap and new exterior graphic packages. Floor- plans with a residential refrigerator feature the new Contoure 12-cubic-foot model, which uses Rapidcold technology to keep food cold while using less electricity.
Windsport has interior updates including a new electric fireplace in the 35M floorplan. A Serta mattress and Furrion oven with cooktop glass cover are now part of the standard build. Pet parents will love the Bird’s Eye window and Pet-Link multi-purpose tie-down features of the Windsport, making travel with their furry family members enjoyable for all.
The Miramar features new exterior graphics, including three full-body paint packages and two partial paints with vinyl graphics. Select floorplans now feature the Rapidcold technology within the Contoure 12-cubic-foot residential refrigerator.
The Challenger has a brand-new look with a fresh front cap and accent lighting. USB charging ports in the bedroom and living room provide convenience to keep any device charged and ready to go for the morning adventure.
Class A Diesels
Thor Motor Coach’s Palazzo, Aria, Venetian and Tuscany are restyled and modernized for model year 2021.
The Venetian’s biggest change for 2021 is the addition of the F42 tag-axle floorplan to the lineup. The 42-foot model is big on living space with a large sofa and theater recliners. The bath-and-a-half setup allows for dual-zone living and privacy of the master bedroom en suite.
